Health Information Regarding Swollen Gums And Periodontitis

The progression of gingivitis can result to periodontitis or pyorrhea gum disease which manifest through swollen gums involving infection of the connective tissue and bones that support the teeth. The occurrence of periodontitis is due to the inflammation or infection of the gums that is untreated or when treatment is delayed. The bacterial infection and the inflammation can spread from the gums to the ligaments and bone that support teeth. Teeth become loose and eventually fall out because of the loss of support. This gum condition is uncommon in childhood but increases during the adolescence and is recognized as the primary tooth loss not only in most adults but even in teenagers.
