Improper Cleaning Of Teeth May Cause Swollen Gums And Gum Disease

The improper cleaning of the teeth may cause advanced gum disease called periodontitis to develop. Periodontitis is the inflammation around the tooth. Many of us have been confused with gingivitis and periodontitis. Gingivitis is the most commonly known dental disease for people above 18 years of age while periodontitis is the severe form of gingivitis that when left without treatment or delayed treatments can cause a major loss of teeth. When a person has gingivitis he may have swollen gums and gum irritation. Periodontitis on the otherhand is about the separation of teeth from the gums. The best prevention to these conditions is to learn the proper techniques of brushing and flossing. Added to that one must take time to get an appointment with the dentist for professional cleanings.
