Patients with periodontal disease should also receive periodontal treatment. In these patients, the introduction of these measures will be sufficient to tackle the problem of halitosis.
Periodontal patients do not need to be specially trained in cleaning the tongue. To clean the tongue can be used mechanical methods (toothbrush, tongue scraper) and chemical methods (antimicrobial mouthwash with chlorhexidine, stages mouthrinses two oil / water). It is beneficial to clean up the language from the party after more feasible.
Where there are other causes of halitosis local pathological, we must try to fill the gaps, so as to obtain oral health (open cavities, for example).
It should also take into account certain general measures of health:
Maintain hydration: this requires a daily intake of adequate amounts of fluids.
Avoid prolonged fasting, with this measure to help the mouth always has adequate levels of saliva because we favor is conducted in the salivary secretion (chewing). The consumption of food to be chewed (especially hard food such as bread), favors cleaning the tongue surface.
The measure will also avoid general statements of hypoglycemia, leading to the formation of ketone bodies which excreted in the lungs, are odoriferous.
Regular consumption of certain products: Food odoriferous: such as garlic, onion, coffee, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, beans, the leek or some cheese. Snuff. Alcohol. Foods rich in proteins: the proteins to be substrate for the formation of CVS by bacteria.
There is another key measure for the prevention of halitosis, is the elimination of microbial agents by chemical means (antibacterial agents).
